CONSTRUCT Visits Lillington Gardens Community Centre

On the 30th of January, the CONSTRUCT General Manager (Ian Burnett) and CONSTRUCT CFTF Chairman (Martyn Price) were delighted to visit Lillington Gardens Community Centre and meet delegates taking part in the IXION/SHAW Trust Traineeships as part of CONSTRUCT’s early engagement with trainees.

Martyn and Ian provided the cohort with information on the CONSTRUCT membership as well as what is expected of them once they start their work experience. Information was provided on career progression and Martyn and Ian discussed how they both came into the industry and the different paths they took to get to where they are now.

Great engagement with the cohort was achieved and reinforced by their Construction Tutor Simon McDonald and Lee St-Clair Youth Education and Skills Work Experience Coach for Ixion, part of Shaw Trust.

CONSTRUCT member A J Morrisroe has found work experience placements for two of the delegates and CONSTRUCT is looking to place the remaining two delegates, please contact Ian Burnett (Contact details) if you can provide any assistance.

This is the first of our early engagements with potential new workers for 2023, please keep an eye out for future trainee opportunities for our members in 2023 and beyond. Please get involved and let us make a good impact on young people’s lives and start their careers in the construction industry.
