Following a broad consultation across the plant sector CITB are piloting changes to plant standards and grants which started from 31st July.
These changes will apply to eight of the plant categories that sit within the CPCS and NPORS Schemes. These changes will help to ensure that the training required by employers is delivered consistently and is assessed to an industry recognised standard.
The first set of new standards have been developed in collaboration with construction employers, training providers, and federations. These changes will ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality plant operations training.
If you are an employer applying for a plant grant, you will now receive one payment for the practical test, the theory test and for the short course training.
Your grant application process will be easier. Simply give your CITB registration number to your training provider when booking the training.
To ensure no one is disadvantaged, a transition period will be in place from 31 July to 30 September, allowing employers to still receive grant for either the old or new standards while the process is embedded. You will find details of how to claim against the old standards here. After September, grants will only be available against the new standards for these eight categories.
