CONSTRUCT recently visited the 33-35 Piccadilly redevelopment, formerly known as Airwork House, where member Real Time Civil Engineering (RTCE) are delivering technically challenging groundworks and substructure operations for Kier in a constrained central London environment.
Project overview
The visit gave CONSTRUCT an opportunity to see first-hand the planning, engineering control and coordination required to deliver a major redevelopment in one of London’s most prominent locations.
RTCE’s scope includes structural underpinning, propping, piling and basement construction. Each element demands strong temporary works control, clear sequencing, excavation stability measures and close coordination between designers, engineers and site teams.
History and new use
The existing site has historically been used as commercial office accommodation. The redevelopment will transform it into a high-quality mixed-use building, providing modern commercial office space together with upgraded retail and hospitality accommodation at lower levels.
